Your information on this Riverside County site

This site collects your details in one place, and only if you choose to use it: the request form on the sell page. An email, a call or a text to the business are the other ways information reaches it. The pages carry no analytics or advertising code. Each of these is covered below.

Reading a guide

  • No sign-in. There are no accounts.
  • Calculators stay in your browser. If a guide carries a calculator or a checker, it does its math on your device and sends your answers nowhere.
  • No tracking code. The pages carry no analytics or advertising tags, no pixels and no third-party embeds, and the site's own code sets no cookies. Fonts, images and scripts all load from this site's own address.

Cloudflare, the hosting service, has to receive your IP address and your browser's request in order to send each page back. The code this site runs there keeps no record of which pages a visitor opens. It also sends a header telling Cloudflare not to insert its own analytics script into the pages.

What the request form sends

The form on the sell page sends what you type into it: your name, a phone number, an email address if you add one, the ZIP where the car sits, the car's year, make, model and rough mileage, your answers to does it run and what the title shows, and anything you write in the notes box. The page adds two things of its own: how long the form was open before you pressed send, and the address of the page you sent it from.

Those details go to this site's own server, which turns them into an email sent from leads@sellmycarriversidecounty.com to the business's inbox. If you gave an email address, it is set as the reply address so the answer can come straight back to you. The server sends that email to the one inbox and to nobody else, and a person from the business reads it and calls the number you gave.

What the server keeps, and for how long

The server keeps none of what you type, apart from three short records:

  • Your phone number's digits, for 10 minutes. If the same number is sent twice in that time, the business gets one email, not two.
  • A counter stored under your IP address, for up to two hours. It caps the requests one address can send at 15 in an hour.
  • A log line, for 90 days. It holds the vehicle's year, make and model, the ZIP, the page, the does it run and title answers, and the time. It holds no name, phone number or email, and it is how the business tells which guides lead to a request.

The email itself stays in the business's inbox, where it is used to answer you.

How the form screens out robots

Two checks run before an email is sent. The form carries a hidden field that people never see, so a request that fills it in came from a script. And the page notes how long the form was open: a request sent less than two and a half seconds after the page loaded is faster than a person types. A request caught by either check, or by the 15-an-hour ceiling, gets the usual thank-you message on screen, and no email is sent.

Below the button, the form prints this, word for word: By sending this you agree that a person from Sell My Car Riverside County may call or text this number about your car. Your details are used to answer this request and for nothing else.

This notice repeats that line so the two always match. The form has no newsletter or mailing-list box, and sending it signs you up for nothing.

Sending an email

Messages to help@sellmycarriversidecounty.com pass through an email forwarding service and land in the business's inbox. The message, your address and any attachment stay there and are used to reply to you or to correct a guide.

Calling or texting the number

A call to (951) 404-1640 is carried by a phone provider that rings it through to a person. The provider's records show the number you called from and when the call took place. A text sent to the same number may be stored together with your number so the business can read it.

Questions about your information

Email help@sellmycarriversidecounty.com with Privacy in the subject line. You can ask what the business holds about you, in practice a request email, an email thread, a line in the phone provider's call log or a text, and ask for those messages to be deleted. When the way this site works changes, this page is updated to match.
